At Covenant, we partner with many public and private CDL schools throughout the United States. After filling out the Quick App on this page and marking that you do not have a CDL-A, we will email you the partner CDL school in your area, based on your zip code.
Once you’ve enrolled in CDL school, give us a call so we can talk about pre-hiring for your graduation day and the orientation class at Covenant that will work best for you!
STEP 1 – STUDENT:
You begin the program by going out on the road with a Certified Trainer to complete 145 hours of training. Once complete you will go to one of our terminals and do an upgrade test to become a Team Driver.
- A majority of our Student drivers earn $600 a week!
STEP 2 – TEAM DRIVER:
You will spend 60 days with your co-driver as a Team Driver to enable you to strengthen your skills while having an extra set of eyes to ensure safety on the road. Most drivers have met someone through CDL School or as a Student that they want to partner with as a team Driver but we have a matching system in case you haven’t found the right person yet.
- $0.55/MILE ($1,100-$1,650/WEEK) – Hazmat
- $0.52/MILE ($1,040-$1,560/WEEK) – Non-Hazmat
STEP 3 – OTR:
Once you’ve completed your time as a Team Driver, you will upgrade to OTR. This is typically about 3 months after you started working with us.
DAY 91-180
- $0.62/MILE ($1,240-$1,860/WEEK) – Hazmat
- $0.59/MILE ($1,180-$1,770/WEEK) – Non-Hazmat
DAY 181-365
- $0.66/MILE ($1,320-$1,980/WEEK) – Hazmat
- $0.63/MILE ($1,260-$1,890/WEEK) – Non-Hazmat
1+ YEAR
- $0.70/MILE ($1,400-$2,100/WEEK) – Hazmat
- $0.67/MILE ($1,340-$2,010/WEEK) – Non-Hazmat
Extra Pay Opportunities (for every step of your career):
- Clean DOT inspections: $75/each clean inspection
- Referral bonuses: $500 qualified solo; $1,500 qualified team; $3,000 qualified Hazmat team
- Wildcat Fleet teams get an additional $0.04/mile
Orientation:
Your 3 days in orientation will be filled with one-on-one interaction with various departmental personnel within the company, classroom time, driving time, a drug test, and a physical aptitude test. Each orientation location has its own schedule.
Learn more about what you will be doing during your time in orientation. Covenant will cover your lodging costs, plus $220 ($75 Comdata, $145 paycheck) in orientation pay.
Family Plan & Buddy Plan Training:
Covenant can train husband and wife teams together, and our Buddy Plan allows friends and/or other family members to train together. A qualified spouse may train the other while running team freight.
ADDITIONALLY, TUITION WILL BE PAID MONTHLY AT $250 FOR EACH STUDENT’S SCHOOLING, UP TO $10,000 TOTAL. - after verifications are established
The student must have completed and passed a certified truck driving school with a minimum of 120 hours in the last 18 months. Who is eligible? Any student who paid for school with cash, who applied and secured a loan, or departing military. All qualified students receiving tuition reimbursement will be required to submit proof prior to orientation.
